ADEMOLA LOOKMAN admits he can’t wait to get Leicester City fans on their feet – 10 months after bringing the Foxes to their knees, writes GRAEME BRYCE.
The 23-year-old winger joined Brendan Rodgers side on a year-long loan deal from RB Leipzig, with an option to make the deal permanent next summer.
Wandsworth-born Lookman is no stranger to the King Power and scored Fulham’s winner there last November as he sealed the Cottagers’ shock 2-1 win while on loan with the Londoners.
Those two points proved costly as Leicester eventually missed out on the Champions’ League by a point on the final day of last season and Lookman admits he is aiming to make amends to Brendan Rodgers and Foxes fans.
“He (Rodgers) is one of the big reasons why I decided to join this club,” said the former England Under-17 world cup winner.
“He’s a coach who develops a lot of players into even better and great players.
“The most important thing for me is to improve and become better – that’s what I want to do here every single day.
“I see myself as an exciting player in terms of creativity, goals and assists. I want to be a player that gets fans off their seats.
“It’s a great honour to be at such a big and amazing club with such a huge history and a quality group of players.
“The facilities are incredible, mind-blowing, and I know a few of the players – James Maddison, Hamza Choudhury and Harvey Barnes from the England set-up.
“I still have a lot to improve on and this is the place for me to do that.”
For the first time in five seasons Leicester did not sell a major player as they held on to Liverpool and Arsenal targets Youri Tielemans and James Maddison.
Instead, Dennis Praet completed a season-long loan move to Serie A side Torino, two years after the 27-year-old Belgian international joined the Foxes from Sampdoria for £18million.
