Graveside Services for Helen M. Woollen will be held on Monday, March 22, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Freewater Cemetery in rural Harlan County, Nebraska.
Additionally, a Memorial Service for Helen M. Woollen will be held on Monday, March 22, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at the Community Church in Wilcox, Nebraska, with Pastor Craig Cedar officiating.

Helen Marie Woollen, 99 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, formerly of Wilcox, died on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Holdrege Memorial Homes. Helen was born on December 7, 1921, on a farm in Kearney County, Nebraska, southwest of Minden, Nebraska, the youngest of four children born to John and Mary (Chantelaw) Andersen. When Helen was three years old, her mother died. Helen went to live with her aunt and uncle, Harlan and Sylvia Jensen for four years, until her father remarried, Hattie Damgaard, adding seven additional siblings. Helen received her primary education from District #48 Country School, southwest of Minden and then attended Minden Public Schools and graduated from Minden High School with the class of 1939.
On October 15, 1950, Helen was united in marriage to Lamoyne Ellis Woollen at the Presbyterian Church in Kearney, Nebraska. The couple was blessed with two sons: Richard and Neal. The family made their home on a farm near Wilcox. Helen began working for the Wilcox Bank, as a Teller. She enjoyed the day to day interaction with the customers. In 1991, Helen retired, after 39 years of service.
Helen was a member of the Wilcox Community Church. She enjoyed embroidery work, playing BINGO, coffee with friends, and playing cards. Her greatest joys were spending time with her sons, and attending her grandchildren’s activities.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, and step-mother, Hattie; husband, Lamoyne Woollen on May 3, 1997; her siblings: Alvin (Milrae) Andersen; Arthur (Willy) Andersen; Evelyn (Mike) Youngson; Charlotte (Gerald) Snyder; Marilyn Macklin; Luetta (Ray) Bacon; Lois Johnson; and Verlon Andersen; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Cloie (Bill) Jensen; Loren (Ardyce) Woollen; Gifford Woollen; William (Dorothy) Woollen; Lois (Gene) Ryan; Louisa (Clifford) Rabe; Lamonte Woollen; Bernard Woollen and his wives: (Leone) and (Juanita “Nita”); Melvin (Doris) Woollen; and Marley Erickson.
Helen leaves to celebrate her life; her two sons: Richard Woollen and his wife, Leann of Ord, Nebraska; and Neal Woollen and his wife, Patty of Hedgesville, West Virginia; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; one sister, Pat Erickson of Kansas City; one brother: Roger Andersen and his wife, Pat of Kearney, Nebraska; one sister-in-law: Beverly Andersen of Sarasota, Florida; one brother-in-law, Norden Woollen of rural Wilcox and his wife, MaryAnn of St. Luke’s in Kearney; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 21, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Wilcox.
A memorial has been established in Helen’s honor and kindly suggested to the Community Church in Wilcox.
