The Butler County Sheriff’s Office and Nebraska State Patrol are investigating a fatality accident that occurred Sunday evening around 6:15pm at the intersection of Highway 15 and Highway 66.
In a news release, Sheriff Tom Dion says the initial investigation indicates a westbound vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign before entering the intersection where it collided with a southbound vehicle.
The driver of the westbound vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene and a passenger was air-lifted to a Lincoln hospital.
The driver and passenger of the second vehicle were transported to Butler County Health Care for treatment of nonlife threatening injuries.
No names of those involved have been released.
Rescue personnel responding to the collision came from David City, Brainard and Dwight.
