The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office investigation has concluded a gunshot wound to a 37-year-old Campbell woman was the result of an accidental shooting. In a news release by Sheriff Jerry Archer, the Sheriff’s Office was notified of the incident at a Campbell residence around 10:43pm Sunday evening. Upon arrival, they found 37-year-old Staci Watts with a small caliber gunshot wound to the back.
Hildreth Fire and Rescue was dispatched to the scene for medical care. Hildreth is 20 miles from Campbell. A landing zone for a TriCity LifeNet medical helicopter was set up at the Campbell baseball field to transport her to CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney. Watts has since been released.
The investigation concluded that 39-year-old Tyler Watts accidentally discharged a .22 cal rifle in an adjacent room which struck his wife Staci.
