Cozad Splits Home Games with Holdrege Thursday Night

Girls Game

A back and forth affair started off with the Dusters jumping out to a 10-0 lead which they would hold until the second quarter. Cozad would come out of the quarter break firing on all cylinders going on a 13-2 run to start the period and went into the locker rooms down one to Holdrege 16-15. The 2nd half was a constant back and forth trading buckets for both team and Holdrege came out on top 38-35 after some food free throw shooting down the stretch. Kenna Fulmer ended the night with 13 and Keeley Vaughn had 3 three-pointers on her way to 12. For Cozad Makaia Baker was all over the court scoring a team high 14 with 6 of those points on fast break steals to set herself up.

Holdrege improves to 6-14 and Cozad falls to 4-15

Boys Game

Much like in the first game of the evening Holdrege got things going first finding themselves up 10-4 early in the 1st. But after a timeout from the Haymakers, Cozad locked down defensively and ended the first quarter up 15-10 they didn’t look back after that exploding in the second quarter to grow their lead to 17 going into the half up 34-17. After the break things leveled out and the teams traded runs. Until the final buzzer sounded Cozad on top 56-43. Jackson Hinrichs led the Dusters with 15. Cash Chytka led the way for Cozad with 17 points with all of his points coming from in the paint or at the charity stripe.

Cozad moves to 12-7. Holdrege drops to 11-7.
