Elm Creek Basketball Preview

ELM CREEK- The Buffaloes girls and boys basketball teams are geared up and ready for their 2022-2023 seasons.

The boys are fresh off a nice season last year, going 13-10. They lost in a heartbreaker last year in district play at home, losing 58-56 in overtime to Sumnber-Eddyville Miller. With Elm Creek returning most of its starters though, there is a lot of hope of what the season could hold. They return seniors Beau Knapp who averaged 4 points and 3 assists per game last year, Carter Erickson who averaged 13 points and 8 rebounds last year, Trent Watkins who averaged 10 points and 3 rebounds, Shay Hubbard who averaged 5 points and 4 rebounds, Dylan Carr who averaged 7 points last year, and more. In total, the Buffaloes only lost 2 seniors from last year, so this is a team that could make a big run this season.

For the girls, they are looking to improve after their 9-13 mark under first year head coach Jadyn High last year. The girls also return a lot, only losing three seniors. The experience along with now being more comfortable under now second year head coach Jadyn High makes it an exciting time in Elm Creek. Their returners include sophomore Ashley Bauer who averaged 12 points and 3 rebounds last year, sophomore Halle Knapp who averaged 7 points and 3 rebounds, senior Lani Meier who averaged 7 points and 3 rebounds, and more. The Buffaloes have 12 players on the roster so far, and are hoping to make a big jump in the second year under Jadyn High.

Listen to head coach Jadyn High and players talk at the 2022 Lexington Media Day.

The Buffaloes girls and boys team kick off the season December 1st on the road at Shelton.
