The Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate a two-vehicle fatality accident that occurred around 4:19p.m. Thursday March 30, 2023 at the intersection of Highways 81 & 41 southeast of Geneva.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a motorcycle was attempting to cross Highway 81 to go westbound on Highway 41. The driver of the motorcycle failed to notice a southbound semi and collided with it.
The driver of the motorcycle, 40-year-old Jeffrey Graham of Tobias, was transported to Fillmore County Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The driver, a Santa Maria, CA man, was not injured.
Geneva Fire & Rescue assisted at the scene.
The Sheriff’s Office says seatbelts were in use in the semi. A helmet was worn by the fatality victim, however the helmet was not DOT certified and did not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
