Gothenburg Girls advance to SWC Tournament Championship

KEARNEY- It was a one sided contest Friday afternoon as the Gothenburg Swedes rolled 59-37 to take down the Ogallala Indians.

The Swedes were able to put up 21 points in the first quarter, behind multiple three pointers. They were able to knock down eight total three pointers in the first half, to help them pull away. Three players scored six points in the first, senior Kynlee Strauser and juniors Clara Evert and Aubrey O’Hare helping for the big quarter. They scored 11 points or more in every quarter to help them pull away. Ogallala struggled with turnovers as well, committing 15 total in the first half, and 26 on the game. Gothenburg improved to 13-2, and will play 15-3 Minden in the championship game at 4:30 on Saturday. Ogallala fell to 10-7.

Gothenburg was led by Strauser with 12 points. Junior Ashlyn Richeson, senior Ellarey Harm, and Evert all had 11 points. The Swedes only turned the ball over 11 times, knocked down 10 three pointers, and went 6-12 from the free throw line. Ogallala was led by junior Aelyn Cain and freshman Laney Caskey who both finished with 9 points. The Indians committed 26 turnovers, knocked down 3 three pointers, and went 10-15 from the free throw line.
