A Memorial Graveside Service for Jackie W. Brown will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Nebraska with Lonna Grabenstein, Chaplain of Brookstone Home Health and Hospice officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the North Platte Veteran’s Honor Guard in conjunction with the United States Army Funeral Honors Team.

Jackie Wayne Brown, 84 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away, on Friday, July 29, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Society – Colonial Villa in Alma, Nebraska. Jackie was born in Orafino, Nebraska on August 17, 1937, the fifth of eight children, born to Theodore Sr. and Velma (Thomas) Brown. He received his education at Earl Country School near Orafino and then attended Elwood Public School.

Jackie worked on the farm until he enlisted in the United States Army on December 8, 1960. He was a Carpenter with the Army Engineer Corps and was honorably discharged in 1966. Following his discharge, Jackie worked for several farmers around Funk, Atlanta, and Loomis before working for Slater Bros. Elevator in Atlanta.

Jackie had three daughters through a previous marriage: Tonia, Tina, and Alice.

He enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing softball, and socializing at the Eagles Club with his buddies. Jackie had a passion for gardening, he spent many hours tending to his peach tree, rose bush, and yard. He was generous and lived a simple life, if you needed help, Jackie was there to assist you.

Jackie was preceded in death by his parents; four siblings: Vivian De Boer; Richard “LaVern” Brown; Theodore “Bob” Brown Jr.; and Keith Brown.

Jackie is survived by his children: Tonia Birch and her husband, Thomas “TJ” of Holdrege; Tina Haussler and her husband, Brad of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Alice Imig of Seward, Nebraska; seven grandchildren: Jimi Brown; Addam Brown; Seth Birch; Dillon “Taylor” Holder; Emily Birch; James Imig; and Katelyn Imig; four great-grandchildren: Trynity, Kyleigh, and Grayson Brown; and Eden Hamel; one brother, Tom Brown; two sisters: Patti Gray; and Shirley Gengenbach; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

There will be no visitation or memorial book signing, the family is honoring Jackie’s wish for cremation.

A memorial has been established in Jackie’s honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
