LEXINGTON – Something had to give on Friday night as two winless teams met in Lexington as Hastings fought off the Minutemen 21-4 in overtime. Throughout the season both teams have been offensively challenged, in fact Hastings came into game having only scored one touchdown. It took them four quarters but they found their stride as they defeated the Minutemen.

The Minutemen set the pace, scoring first on a 28-yard pass from Davin Naylor to Jace Carpenter to take a 7-0 lead, which they held at halftime. Neither team scored in the 3rd quarter, then Carpenter scored again on a 85-yard pass from Naylor to give the Minutemen a two-touchdown lead.

Then Hastings got fought back, Tucker Synek led the team on a nine-play drive, caping it off with a nine-yard run. On the next drive he found Kooper Kohl on a 30-yard pass to tie the game at 14.

Lexington attempted a 42-yard field goal, but it fell so short, so the game went into overtime. Hastings got the ball first and wasted little time, scoring on their second play, a three-yard run by Naz Robinson. The extra point was good and now Lexington was forced to do the same as they were down 21-14 but were unable to find the end zone..  After scoring 21 unanswered points, Hastings claimed their first win of the year. For Lexington it was their second overtime loss of the year and their fourth one score loss of the season. Lexington is now 0-5 on the season.
