Mary Elva Piska, 72 years of age, of Kearney, Nebraska

A Memorial Service for Mary Piska will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege with Chaplain Adie Johnson officiating. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.

The service will be recorded and posted to the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home Facebook page.

Mary Elva Piska, 72 years of age, of Kearney, Nebraska, died on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at the CHI Heath Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Mary was born on January 14, 1950, in Denver, Colorado. She attended Longmont High School in Longmont, Colorado.

Following her education, Mary was blessed with two sons: Riley “Rich” and Jerome.

Mary worked for many years at Allmand Brothers in Holdrege on the assembly line. In later years, Mary met her future husband, Joseph Piska. Together they enjoyed 28 years of companionship.

She enjoyed many day bus trips with her friends from the Peterson Senior Center in Kearney. Mary also enjoyed doing embroidery for the Kearney School of Dance, quilting, gardening and canning the fruits of her labors. She loved to help Joe on the farm and loved all animals. She will be remembered for her Christmas cookies and enjoying the outdoors with her family, including tubing and four wheeling through the creek.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe.

Mary is survived by her sons: Riley Kuck and his wife, Ludmila of Oxford, Nebraska; and Jerome Kuck of Kearney; along with many extended relatives and many friends.

A memorial book signing will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Mary’s honor and kindly suggested to the Peterson Senior Center in Kearney.
