Missing prison inmate back in custody

Omaha — An inmate who left a state prison decided to turn himself in. 23 year old Clifford Brown turned himself in Monday to the Omaha Police Department after he left the Community Corrections Center in Omaha last week.

It was the second time in two years Brown has left a facility. Last year he went missing from a similar correctional center in Lincoln.

He was sentenced in 2021 to just over three years in prison on a Dawson County methamphetamine charge.

Brown had escaped the facility last week with 44 year old Matthew Hurich who authorities say has not been located.

Hurich was sentenced in 2014 to 11 years and eight months to 30 years in prison for charges of robbery and terroristic threats out of Lancaster County.
