Hattie Elizabeth Mae Dannull, 89 years of age, of Holdrege,
Memorial Services for Hattie Dannull will be held on Friday, September 18, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Jan Gluth King officiating.
Due to health concerns, regarding the COVID-19 pandemic; current CDC and Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services guidelines for Faith-Based Services will be followed. The Dannull family sincerely encourages each person to make their decision whether to attend Hattie’s services based on the best interest of your health, and that of your community. The Memorial Service for Hattie will be live-streamed on the Bethel Lutheran Church’s Facebook page.
Hattie Elizabeth Mae Dannull, 89 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2020, at the Christian Homes Care Community at Holdrege. Hattie was born on May 13, 1930, in rural Phelps County, Nebraska, north of Bertrand, Nebraska, the fifth of eight children, to John S.W. and Anna E.M. (Andersen) Johnson. Hattie was baptized and confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bertrand. She received her education from Bertrand High School.
On May 16, 1948, Hattie was united in marriage to Walter Dannull at Immanuel Lutheran Church and to this union two children were born: Clifford and Debra. The family made their home in Holdrege.
Hattie enjoyed reading; sewing; attending dances; teaching accordion lessons; and spending time with her grandkids, at her cabin at Harlan Lake. Her family and friends will remember her wonderful cooking and strong cup of coffee.
Hattie was employed at the Home Decorating Shop in Holdrege, sewing draperies for customers all over the state; and even sewed the draperies for the Phelps Hospital, when it first opened. Following her retirement, she worked alongside Walt at Dannull Engine, as the bookkeeper.
She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and helped with the finishing of their quilts there.
Hattie was preceded in death by: her parents; twin sisters in infancy: Loretta and Lucille Johnson; her husband, Walter Dannull; three great-granddaughters: Alli Mae Dannull; and twins: Brooke and Jenna Sickels; and her brothers: Lorenz (Elsie) Johnson; Palmer (Fern) Johnson; Floyd (Doris) Johnson; Maynard Johnson; and Roger Johnson.
Hattie leaves to celebrate her life; her son, Cliff Dannull and his wife, Willa of Holdrege; and daughter, Debby Sickels and her husband, David of Holdrege; seven grandchildren: Heidi Baily and her husband, Craig of Oxford, Nebraska; Holly Holste and her husband, Nick of Oxford; Haley Moon and her husband, Jeff of Holdrege; Brett Dannull and his wife, Katie of Holdrege; Andrew Sickels and his wife, Dixie of Cambridge, Nebraska; Jill Witt and her husband, Wayne of Bertrand; and Riley Halbmaier and her husband, Trevor of Hastings, Nebraska; 15 great-grandchildren: Beau and Brynn Baily; Sarah, Natalee and Blake Holste; Jake and Jenna Moon; Kinley and Hannah Dannull; Zack, Paige, Paytin and Levi Sickels; Shali Witt; and Raegen Halbmaier; two sisters-in-law: Phyllis Neeman of Kearney, Nebraska; and Gladys Johnson of Holdrege; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A memorial has been established in Hattie’s honor, and kindly suggested to Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege.
