Unofficial election results for the four open seats on the Newport-Mesa Unified School Board show the two incumbents running in the lead for their seats, while two newcomers are also poised to join the board.
According to results as of 5 p.m. Nov. 10, in Area 2, Michelle Murphy, a parent and nonprofit executive, leads Danielle Mills, a parent who works in the veterinary field, by 59.4 percent to 40.6 percent.
In Area 4, parent and former teacher Lisa Pearson has 56.8 percent of the vote, while parent and business owner Barbara George and executive assistant Kristen Nicole Valle trail with 33.8 percent and 9.4 percent, respectively.
Area 5’s incumbent Michelle Barto has 65.5 percent of the vote, while school counselor and parent Reina Shebesta is at 34.5 percent….
