Omaha Police Department is on-scene of a shooting that occurred around noon today at a Target store on the westside of Omaha at 178th and West Center Road.
In a press conference at the scene, Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer says the shooter is deceased and they believe there were no injuries to workers, customers or civilians. Schmaderer says they received 29 initial 9-1-1 calls on the incident. They are asking any witnesses to contact the Omaha Police Department.
Schmaderer says it started at 11:59 am today when they were notified of an active shooter at the Target store. The suspect is a white male in his 30’s who fired multiple rounds from an AR-15 rifle. The initial arriving officers entered the store, confronted the suspect and ultimately killing him. No other victims were found after two sweeps.
Police have secured the scene and deemed the situation under control. Schmaderer thanked the multiple law enforcement agencies from local, state and federal who responded to the scene.
