Authorities say a 19-year-old Schulyer teen has died and another person seriously injured after a crash in northeast of Clarkson.
According to the Stanton County Sheriff Michael Unger, the crash happened just before 3:00 p.m. Thursday on Highway 15 and 822nd Road on the Stanton and Colfax County line.
He says an investigation showed a Toyota SUV, driven by Jeyco Gonzalez, 19, of Schulyer, was going north on Highway 15 when it turned left suddenly towards 822nd Road and struck a southbound pickup.
Sheriff Unger says Gonzalez was ejected and died at the scene.
The pickup driver, Tyler Regan, 24, of O’Neill, was extricated from the wreckage and taken to a hospital, where he was stabilized and then flown to an Omaha hospital for severe injuries.
The accident blocked Highway 15 for more than 3 hours.
Unger says both vehicles were destroyed in the crash.
